As a young college student, I wanted to make a difference in my community by becoming a doctor. One day, I turned on the TV and found myself watching Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. I became curious about what Fred Rogers was doing and about the notion of TV as an educational, inspiring and community-building medium. I was so curious that I wrote to him and received a response which changed the course of my life. To put it simply, Fred Rogers inspired me to make television that mattered; television that informs, educates and inspires. At the age of 27, I found myself building a PBS station in Reno, Nevada. After 17 wonderful years in Reno, I came to Minnesota to join arms with a great staff and a wonderful community who are committed to use the power of media for the public good. It has been a great journey! That's my story – and that's my reason for being passionate about public television and about tpt.

For Kids and Parents
Meet Arthur's new friend, Lydia Fox. Selected out of an overwhelming 8,500 entries, Lydia was created by Connor, an 11-year old boy who lives in Savage, Minnesota. Connor says,
"My character, Lydia, wants kids to know that even though she's in a wheelchair, she can do what everyone else can do, but in her own way."
In this episode, Lydia Fox is introduced to the Arthur gang. It encourages parents and children to think about what life is like for someone who has a disability and teaches that just because you have a disability doesn't mean you can't win on the basketball court, or in life!
